Snd-hda-intel Drivers For Mac ((LINK))

If you don't want to edit it manually you can achieve the same result by issuing the following command (ONCE only) echo "options snd-hda-intel dmic_detect=0" sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

Some combinations of ALSA drivers and chipsets may cause audio from all sources to skip when used in combination with a dynamic frequency scaling governor such as ondemand or conservative. Currently, the solution is to switch back to the performance governor.

If you are sure nothing is muted, that your drivers are installed correctly, and that your volume is right, but you still do not hear anything, then try adding the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf:

This guide is written generically. It has the greatest likelihood of helping a user if they do not deviate from the nominal openSUSE packaged drivers; desktop and kernel. That is, if one installs a custom kernel or updates to a factory KDE version (as opposed to remaining with the nominal KDE version), or applies a manufacturer-provided sound driver, there is an increased probability that this guide will not be of help.

For openSUSE, the openSUSE alsa packager / alsa developer also packages the latest alsa as openSUSE rpms, in order to help users whose sound is not functioning appropriately, by providing cutting edge sound drivers.

The readme.txt and install.txt provide instructions for compiling from tarball. In addition, custom installation instructions can also be found on the alsa web site. In our case, for the ALC268, the kernel sound module for this is the: snd-hda-intel (which we learned above when typing: cat /proc/asound/modules ). Searching the alsa site for snd-hda-intel gives this page which provides custom instructions for compiling alsa: -project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Module-hda-intel

The PulseAudio sound server was written to use timer-based audio scheduling instead of the traditional interrupt-driven approach. This is the approach that is taken by other systems such as Apples CoreAudio and the Windows Vista audio subsystem and has a number of advantages, not the least in reduced power consumption, minimization of drop-outs and flexible adjustment of the latency to the needs of the application. However, timer-based scheduling may expose issues in some Alsa drivers. To turn timer-based scheduling off, replace the lineload-module module-hal-detectin /etc/pulse/default.pa byload-module module-hal-detect tsched=0Alternatively, in cases where udev is used instead of hal, try replacing the line load-module module-udev-detectin /etc/pulse/default.pa by (or adding if that line not present)load-module module-udev-detect tsched=0

Spice may give trouble when passing through a GPU as it presents a "virtual" PCI graphic card to the guest and some drivers have problems with that, even when both cards show up.It's always worth a try to disable SPICE and check again if something fails.

Then run: cat /proc/asound/card*/codec* grep CodecAnd make sure it is Cirrus Logic CS4208, if that is the case, search the particular model of your computer here: -audio/models.html (in the CS4208 section if that is your case) find the code of your computer: mbp55 or imac27 or imac27_122 and then edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.confErase every line in there and write (supposing your model was mbp55:options snd-hda-intel model=mbp55Then restart the computer and it should work(Solution by Doug White)

The integrated sound card is a Realtek ALC 268 which is only supported by ALSA 1.0.15 and later. With Linux 2.6.23 and ALSA 1.0.14, the sound card is found and appears to be working without error messages, but there is no sound. With Linux 2.6.24 and ALSA 1.0.15, the sound works if the option model=acer is passed to the snd-hda-intel driver. See this post: Sound on Zepto Znote 3215W almost there.
